UNSW Asia

The Singapore Government chose UNSW to establish its first foreign university, citing its leading international reputation and long history of engagement with Asia.

UNSW Asia is the University's first offshore campus and the first wholly owned research and teaching institution to be established overseas by an Australian university. UNSW Asia has many distinctive features. In the near future students will have the opportunity to move between Sydney and Singapore as part of their studies; there will be a range of double-degrees available which can be completed in five years; and research centres will underpin the work of academic clusters.

The campus will be international in scope, with at least 70 percent of the student population drawn from Asia and around the world, and up to 30 percent from Singapore. Applications for admission opened in January 2006 and further information can be found at www.unswasia.edu.sg/.

Pre-University Programs

Pre-university programs are available at UNSW Foundation Year which offers an excellent pathway to university. Located on UNSW campus, it combines university-style teaching with the security of individual attention. UNSW Foundation Year provides a wide range of subjects within five different areas of academic study Physical Science, Life Science, Commerce, Design & Media, Arts & Social Sciences, with subjects specifically designed to prepare students for their preferred undergraduate program.

The University of New South Wales Institute of Languages offers programs to suit students at all levels, in general, specialised and academic English.

Student Profile

Adeel Razi, didn’t know much about Australia, but he did know cricket.

When the University medal winner from Karachi’s NED University of Engineering and Technology began looking around for his next academic challenge abroad, the lure of a “cricket-playing nation” led him to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney.
