University of South Australia

The University of South Australia (UniSA) is the largest university in South Australia with a diverse population of over 30,000 students, including more than 9,000 international students. While our origins date back nearly 150 years, today UniSA is one of Australia's most modern and progressive education and research institutions.

Experience makes the difference

Choosing to study at UniSA means choosing to graduate with more than a degree – with the experience you will gain during your studies you will enter the workforce with the essential practical and personal skills needed to make an immediate impact.

All UniSA programs are specifically designed in close consultation with our network of industry and professional partners. UniSA programs emphasise real-world experience, providing many students with the opportunity to participate in fieldwork, work on industry projects, or undertake placements.

An international university

We are a university with a defined international focus, and in a changing global environment, we understand the importance of equipping students with an international perspective.

One of Australia's largest providers of offshore education, UniSA offers more than 40 accredited academic programs in seven countries and has links with more than 90 institutions worldwide. UniSA has credit transfer agreements in many countries enabling students to receive advanced standing for studies previously completed.

Progressive research for the real world

Research at UniSA is about creating and applying knowledge. UniSA has earned a reputation for research excellence in Australia and overseas through consistently solid results from our expert research teams.

Since 2000, UniSA has been awarded well over A$100 million in research funding and, at the beginning of 2006, UniSA was ranked number one in the nation for industry-sponsored research grants through the Australian Research Council.

Recognition for quality

In recent years our reputation for excellence has earned UniSA a ranking in the top 200 universities in the world, and recognition as being among the top 50 universities within Australasia, Asia and Central and South America (Times HE Supplement 2005). We have also won a number of significant awards and commendations for our strategic approach to education and academic teaching.

UniSA alumni are highly sought-after and continue to succeed as scientists, artists, Rhodes Scholars, educators, business and industry leaders, government policy makers, executives and innovators in a variety of fields around the world.

Extensive support services

UniSA offers a wide range of academic, social and personal support services that help you settle in, excel in your studies, and make the most or your experiences in Adelaide. International Student Advisers are dedicated to providing assistance and support specifically to suit the needs of our International Students. Services include free on-arrival reception, international student orientation, accommodation, academic and language support, and employment assistance.

UniSA Programs

UniSA offers the most diverse educational menu in South Australia at all levels of tertiary study, with over 300 programs across some 40 disciplines. Pre-university English language programs are available at CELUSA, UniSA’s English language provider.

Adelaide – one of the world's most livable cities

In recent years the Economist Intelligence Unit has ranked Adelaide among the top five most livable cities in the world, and also as the mainland Australian capital city with the lowest cost of living. Not surprisingly it is rapidly becoming a popular study destination. It is estimated that students will need to budget a minimum of about A$245 per week or A$12740 per year.
